Our academic results are consistently strong in a broad range of subjects, with students regularly appearing in the Higher School Certificate (HSC) Premier’s High Achiever and All-rounder lists. Over 70 percent of our students are offered a university place each year (state average is 30 percent). Our overall scores reflect the ever increasing strength of our academic results.

A Masterclass program runs free of charge for senior students during school holidays, led by internal and external subject experts.

HSC Results

2023 Results

Our Class of 2023 cohort of 123 students studying 52 subjects achieved the following outstanding results:

• College Dux was Tony Baynie with an ATAR of 98.7, and Proxime was Zachary Tang with 97.85
• Three ‘Top Achievers’ (State Placegetters) – Tony Baynie placing third in the state for Business Studies and eighth in the state for Legal Studies, while Zachary Tang placed eighth in the state for Engineering Studies
• 53Distinguished Achievers List mentions (achievement of Band 6)
• 234 Band 5 and 6 results
• Three students had major works nominated for HSC Showcases – Hannah Gladman and Heidi MacDonald both nominated for ARTEXPRESS (Visual Arts), and Tom Willett nominated for SHAPE (Industrial Technology – Timber)
• Hannah Gladman’s major work was then selected for inclusion in the ARTEXPRESS Showcase
• 33% of students achieved an ATAR of 80+
• Over half of students received early entry offers from various universities prior to the HSC exams
• Thanks to our comprehensive academic programs, St Leo’s SMH School Ranking improved by 141 places in 2023!
