PACIFICO PLATE | Yesterday our Girls Rugby League and Soccer teams travelled to Newcastle for the 2nd annual Pacifico Plate - a celebration of female sport. The event consists of three matches between St Leo's and Kotara High School U14 Rugby League, U16 Rugby League and Open Girls Soccer teams, with the school winning the most games taking home the Pacifico Plate. The day kicked off with our Leo’s 14's Rugby League Girls falling just short against Kotara, 9 tries to 5. This was a huge effort as for most of our 14s girls, this was their first game of Rugby League. The second game saw our 16s girls very strong defensively, tackling in numbers and showing excellent line speed to crush Kotara 15 tries to 5. So just like last year, the result come down to the Open Girls Soccer. Our Girls conceded two early goals, but Taliah took advantage of a one-on-one with Kotara's Goalkeeper to take one goal back. Leo's unfortunately conceded another goal early in the second half and were playing catch up for most of the half. Isabella was able to put a second in the back of the net for Leo’s, but Kotara took the victory 3-2.This made Kotara overall winners for the day, keeping the Pacifico Plate for another year. We look forward to hosting them next again year at Leo’s with the aim to take back the Plate! Best on Ground for U14s went to Kiara (Y7), Makayla (Y10) for 16s and Teagan (Y12) for the soccer. Well done to all the girls involved, their coaches and especially to Mr Tavernese and Mr Kember. ... See MoreSee Less
