SHARING ONE LION HEART 🦁| As part of our 70th Anniversary celebrations, we have been blessed to receive a truly memorable gift - a commemorative print personally signed by Pope Leo XIV.The print was presented to Mr Gleeson at our final assembly for the term by CSBB's Director of Schools, Mr Danny Casey, on behalf of Archbishop Anthony Randazzo. The print is particularly special because of the journey it has taken. Earlier this year, Archbishop Anthony carried the image with him to Rome to show Pope Leo his namesake school - the only one in Australia. Pope Leo was delighted to see the image and graciously signed it, now a special gift for the our 70th Anniversary year on display in the College foyer for all to see.Inspired by the Pope's recognition, we quietly prepared an invitation for Pope Leo to visit us here at St Leo's during his planned visit to Sydney for the International Eucharistic Congress in 2028.The handmade invitation, with the theme "Oceans Apart, Sharing One Lion Heart," included a QR code linked to a student video with a personal message to His Holiness.Produced by our very own award-winning videographer, Year 11 student, Gabriel O, the video concluded with a callout by the whole College taken at our 70th anniversary photo shoot recently - "Pope Leo, come to Leo's!" You can view final the video message to Pope Leo below. The invitation has now made its way back to Rome in Archbishop Anthony's luggage, where he has agreed to personally deliver it to Pope Leo.This beautiful exchange reflects the faith, hope and creativity of our College community and is a wonderful reminder of our connection with the universal Church.Whether or not the Pope accepts the invitation, the project has brought the St Leo’s community together and created another special anniversary memory for students, staff and families.💜💛 ...
